How to Pay for College without Going Broke

As a follow-up to Lakewood's Oct. 10 College Fair, parents and teens are invited to attend a free college financial aid session held on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Lakewood Youth Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

High school students and their parents are invited to a presentation by Skip Dawson of College Planning of Greater Long Beach on customizing a plan for meeting college costs. 

Topics include:

• How to get ahead by developing a customized plan to meet all the college costs.
• How to lower your "out-of-pocket" costs and get the maximum amount of money from each school.
• How to send your child to an expensive private university for less than a state school.
• Selecting the best academic and social fit for students and best financial fit for families. 

This is a free session but registration is required. 

The Lakewood Youth Center is located at 4658 Woodruff Avenue.
