Elections and Voter Registration
The Lakewood City Council consists of five members elected to serve a four-year term. Each year, the City Council reorganizes, selecting one council member to serve as mayor and another as vice mayor.
Pursuant to California Elections Code §10403.5(e), the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved the City of Lakewood request to consolidate and hold its general municipal election on the same day as the statewide general election.
More information may be obtained by calling the City Clerk’s Office at 562-866-9771 or viewing the Election Notices page during election years.
With the 2022 election, the City of Lakewood changed to by-district, rather than at-large, elections.
