Building Plan Check

Two employees reviewing a set of plans

The Building and Safety division of the Community Development Department provides Plan Check services for most new and remodeled home and commercial construction projects.

Plan Check is the process of reviewing and approving all construction drawings, reports, and specifications to verify compliance with building, zoning, fire, and other applicable codes prior to the issuance of a building permit(s).

Plans are submitted electronically through the L.A. County Department of Public Works Building and Safety Online Plan Check (BSOP) website.

See the detailed instructions in the attachments at the bottom of this page.
