Free smart meter workshop on July 24

Lakewood water customers are invited to a public how-to session on the new smart meters and Fathom-Lakewood website provided by Lakewood city staff on Wednesday, July 24 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

The workshop will be held at the City of Lakewood Executive Board Rom at The Centre, 5000 Clark Ave.

Call 562-866-9771, extension 2708 to RSVP.

Customers will learn to save money using these new system features:

• Leak alerts: Troubleshoot and check if you have a leak, sign up for unusual water use alerts (no need to log on daily to find out), and learn where you might use water most to get advice on how to save water in your home.
• High bill notifications: Use the customer portal to help take control of your water usage. Set a custom water consumption threshold and receive a text or email alert when the system projects your use will exceed it.
Learn about free landscaping and water-wise gardening classes offered throughout the year too.

If you can’t make the training sessions, you can always get help and ask questions by calling Lakewood’s Water Resources Department staff at 562-866-9771, extension 2700.

Here are some helpful tips about making the most of your new smart meter and using the website.
