Unexpected decline in funds for Friends of the Lakewood Libraries

An unexpected decline in funds this year has the Friends of the Lakewood Libraries looking creatively for ways to bring in donations to enhance its volunteer work supporting book purchases and programming at Lakewood’s two libraries.

As a new way to raise funds, FOLL is encouraging residents to read a book during National Library Week (April 7-13) and donate to FOLL at the same time.

Curl up with a good book, and travel near or far in place and time with your reading and imagination.

Then make a donation to the Friends of the Lakewood Libraries to help them help Lakewood’s libraries. Any donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated.

Funds donated go to these uses at Lakewood libraries:

• Children, teen and adult programs
• Books, magazines and newspapers
• Incentives to motivate children to read during Summer Discovery Program
• Furniture to improve library spaces
• Live theater, music and educational events

Tax-deductible checks can be made out to the Friends of the Lakewood Libraries and sent to 4990 Clark Avenue, Lakewood, CA 90712 or delivered to either of Lakewood’s two libraries.

The George Nye Library is at 6600 Del Amo Blvd., Lakewood, CA 90713.

The Angelo Iacoboni Library is at 4990 Clark Ave., Lakewood, CA 90712.
