In the new category of the Jackie Rynerson “Transformation Award,” 11 homeowners were honored for making significant improvements to their home’s exterior or landscaping in the past three years. The award is named after the founder of Lakewood Beautiful who was also one of the organizers of the city’s incorporation movement in 1954 and a former city council member.
Water Wise Awards were given to 18 homeowners for using efficient irrigation and drought-tolerant landscaping while maintaining a beautiful yard and home.
“When caring, committed residents invest in and care for their homes and properties, property values for everyone get a boost and our community is a stronger, safer place,” said Lakewood Mayor Steve Croft, who presided of the award’s ceremony.
Recognition was also be expressed to the many Lakewood Beautiful-nominated homes (and others not nominated) that display a pride of ownership and care and help make Lakewood’s neighborhoods so appealing.
