Lakewood City Council Meetings
Lakewood City Council meetings are held twice each month -- on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month--in the City Council Chambers at The Centre at Sycamore Plaza. City Council meetings are open to the public. They begin at 7:30 p.m. In some months the council might meet only once a month, most often during the holiday season or in the summer.
To confirm a meeting is happening, it is best to consult the council agenda, posted within 72 hours of the scheduled meeting, or to contact the city clerk’s office at 562-866-9771, extension 2200.
Council meetings are cablecast live on CityTV channel 31 and are reshown on the cable channel on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7:30 a.m./p.m. until the next council meeting. See the CityTV-Channel 31 cablecasting schedule. View live stream of CityTV Channel 31.
The five members of the city council are elected at-large to serve a four-year term of office. There are no city council districts. Each year, the city council reorganizes, selecting one council member to serve as mayor and another as vice mayor.
