TAS partner Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude

Founded in March 2003, Operation Gratitude forges strong bonds between Americans and their Military heroes through volunteer service projects, acts of gratitude and meaningful engagements in communities nationwide.

Every year, Operation Gratitude sends 300,000+ individually addressed Care Packages to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen deployed overseas; to their children left behind, and to First Responders, New Recruits, Veterans, Wounded Heroes and their Care Givers.

The City of Lakewood has partnered with Operation Gratitude since 2014 and has sent over 35,000 postcards and greetings to be included in their care packages.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Operation Gratitude has shifted to making bulk donations rather than individual care packages, as assembling individual packages would require gathering volunteers in large groups without physical distancing. They have also altered their letter writing campaign by starting an online submission form for a contact-free option to the traditional campaign.
