The Lakewood Equestrian Center (LEC) is a public equestrian facility located at 11369 East Carson St., Lakewood, CA 90715.

The equestrian center's primary functions are boarding and training horses and providing riding lessons. The boarding and training facility is open to the public, seven days a week, from dawn to dusk. 

The site also has access to miles of trails along the San Gabriel River trail system, the city's own Nature Trail along the westerly side of the San Gabriel River and the adjacent Rynerson Park.

Boarding information

The equestrian center's primary functions are boarding and training horses and providing riding lessons. Presently, the facility can board up to 206 horses and training disciplines include Dressage, Western Pleasure and Hunter/Jumpers.

Pony rides, riding lessons for ages 3-7, petting zoo, camps, birthday parties

Through Barnyard Buddies, a private company, the equestrian center offers a hands-on farming and equestrian experience.

Activities include pony rides, riding lessons for ages 3-7, trail rides for kids, and an animal interaction space with a variety of farm animals. 

Summer camps, birthday parties and field trips are also available.

Barnyard Buddies is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Shoestring City Ranch - equine education for youth

Shoestring City Ranch, an equine therapy program, helps abandoned horses and introduces youth to the technical and interpersonal skills needed to care for an animal.

It is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit, 100% volunteer-run organization that focuses on equine education through the use of rescued horses.
