Weingart Senior Center and programs

The Weingart Senior Center, located at 5220 Oliva Avenue near the corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Candlewood Street is the hub of activities and services for older adults.

• You must be at least 50 years of age to participate in the recreational activities.
• Seniors age 60 and older may take part in the low-cost lunches. Learn more about meals for seniors.

Recreation opportunities

• Check the current Recreation catalog for classes and other activities for older adults at Weingart Senior Center. 
• The Burns Community Center, located at 5510 Clark Ave. just south of Mayfair Park, hosts Active+ exercise programs.

Free Chromebooks (laptops) for older Lakewood residents

The City of Lakewood is providing a limited number of free Chromebooks (laptops) for older adults over the age of 65 who live in Lakewood.

This grant is intended for seniors who currently do not have access to technology, or who have outdated technology.

How to apply

• Print out, complete and sign the Senior Tech Grant Application form(PDF, 497KB) .
• Include a copy of your current utility bill that shows proof of your Lakewood residency (gas, electric, water, rental agreement)
• Include a copy of your driver's license or valid ID that proves you are 65 or older
• Mail or deliver your application by Friday, July 15, 2022.
• Call 562-866-9771, extension 2418 if you have any questions.
