Residents and small business owners struggling to pay unprecedented high natural gas bills may get some relief from programs funded by $10 million in new donations from SoCalGas:
  • Gas Assistance Fund (administered by United Way) provides income-qualified customers with one-time grants to help pay their natural gas bills. A new $5 million SoCalGas donation will expand income eligibility and increase the grants available to qualified customers from $100 to up to $400 for the remainder of the 2023 program. • Fueling Our Communities program will receive $4 million to support a collaboration with food banks and nonprofits that provides free meals and groceries to Californians facing food insecurity.
  • Restaurants Care Resilience Fund, started in 2021 to help small restaurants with improvements, employee retention and to manage debt, losses and rising costs, such as the high cost of natural gas, will receive a $1 million donation from SoCalGas to re-start the program in April. Restaurant owners may sign up now to receive alerts at https://restaurantscare.org/resilience/.
