Did you know that one person can save up to eight lives, give the gift of sight to two people, and by being a tissue donor enhance the lives of up to 75 people?

The Lakewood City Council has declared April as Donate Life Month. More than 100,000 individuals nationwide and more than 20,000 in California are currently on the national organ transplant waiting list. On average, 17 people die each day while waiting, due to the shortage of donated organs.

"Bee a Donor!" You can help save lives simply by checking "YES" online at donateLIFEcalifornia.org or when renewing your driver’s license or ID Card at the DMV.

Anyone can sign up to be a donor, and over 15 million Californians have already registered to ensure their wishes to be organ and tissue donors are honored.

Check to see if you’ve signed up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor by looking for the pink dot on your California driver’s license or state ID card.
