Free fun at Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Expo

Smiling family with firefighters in front of fire truck

The City of Lakewood’s annual Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Expo will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Civic Center parking lot at Del Amo and Clark.

This free event is a chance for families and community members to meet first responders who serve their community and learn about the latest in emergency preparedness.

Kids will also enjoy the family fun zone with inflatables and carnival games.

The event includes:

  • Exciting demonstrations by L.A. County Sheriff's Department and L.A. County Fire Department, including specially trained animals, such as search-and-rescue dogs and mounted posse horses.
  • An up-close look at the Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department specialized vehicles, and a chance to meet the pilot and see the Robinson-44 Sky Knight helicopter, Lakewood’s “eye in the sky.”
  • A display of emergency service vehicles, including sheriff patrol vehicles and fire trucks that you can explore.
  • Booths offering tips to prepare your homes and pets for an emergency.
  • Crime prevention strategies for home and auto security.
  • Neighborhood Watch information and volunteer opportunities in Lakewood’s crime prevention programs.
