Community Digest is 20
Community Digest is 20-years-old. The monthly video magazine features Lakewood news, event calendar, and coverage of community activities, organizations and people. The clip on the right gives insight into this long-running program.
CityTV has cablecast for 25 years
Cable TV promised a lot in the early 1980s: interactive shopping, home banking, and access to community-based television. Cable TV didn’t fulfill all those promises. But the Lakewood City Council quickly achieved one goal – producing local programs that began informing and entertaining subscribers as soon as Lakewood neighborhoods were wired for cable.
Twenty-five years later, Lakewood’s CityTV production unit continues to educate, explore, and celebrate all things Lakewood in programs that consistently win regional and national honors for excellence. Today, CityTV can be seen on Time Warner cable and Verizon FiosTV on channel 31 and at http://www.lakewoodcity.org/citytvnow and on YouTube at CityTVLakewoodCA.
CityTV milestones include cablecasting city council meetings, coverage of Lakewood Youth Sports leagues, the Cafe 5050 cooking show, and magazine-style programs that focus on transportation and transit. More . . .
