The Lakewood Meals On Wheels program (MOW) has been making life easier for elderly residents and shut-ins of all ages since 1975. Today, MOW volunteers range in age from teens to seniors and help with everything from making sandwiches and packaging meals to driving and delivering meals to dozens of Lakewood clients. Lakewood offers a convenient and easy alternative for active senior citizens and disabled adults who can't drive themselves to events and functions. Lakewood's DASH transit service is designed with seniors and disabled adults to help them get around town.
DASH takes passengers to shops, recreational events, and medical centers in Lakewood and a limited number of destinations outside the city. Each of the air conditioned buses accommodates 14-16 ambulatory passengers and two wheelchairs passengers. The service is free for Lakewood residents over age sixty or disabled residents of any age To utilize DASH, riders must first pre-register and make a reservation.
