Tree Lighting Festivities

Tree lighting in Lakewood...with falling snow, too

Lakewood's 3rd Annual Tree Lighting December 2The City of Lakewood, along with generous support from sponsors and community partners, hosts the annual community tree lighting event, with "snow flurries" accompanying the dramatic lighting of the 24-foot-tall tree in the Civic Center Plaza.

Each year, thousands of residents and guests enjoy a celebration of the season at Lakewood's tree lighting event, with a visit and photos with Santa, a selection of food trucks, free carnival games, and face painting. Photo stations are available with colorful backdrops and costumed characters. Dickens carolers provide a festive seasonal assortment of vocal melodies, including a community sing-a-long by the tree.

In 2014, Lakewood capped off the city's year-long 60th Anniversary festivities with the first tree lighting event. The event was significantly expanded in 2015 and will continue year after year now.
