Stop the thief stealing backflow prevention devices

A thief has been stealing “backflow prevention devices” from Lakewood locations over the past few weeks. These thefts not only cost Lakewood taxpayers hundreds of dollars each, but they risk contaminating water supplies and causing dangerous sinkholes.

The suspected thief was videotaped on May 31st around 4 a.m. along Del Amo Blvd. between Bellflower Blvd. and Clark Ave. He was driving an older Honda Civic Hatchback. (See a photo of the suspected thief above.) If you know the suspect, or have helpful information, please call the Lakewood Sheriff’s business line at 562-623-3500.

The thief also stole backflow prevention devices on June 5th on Allington Avenue and Arabella Street.

If you see anyone working suspiciously on a water device who is not wearing a City of Lakewood or Fathom water contractor uniform, please call 9-1-1.
