Burlington store to open this fall
The Fortune 500 clothing chain, Burlington Coat Factory—which now just goes by Burlington—will be opening a large, new store in the 42,000 square-foot former Sports Authority building at Lakewood Center in September.
Burlington is a national off-price department store chain, offering clothing and shoes for the whole family, accessories, baby gear, home décor items and gifts.
Mayor Diane DuBois announced the plans at the recent State of the City luncheon. “Burlington is a growing company that attracts lots of customers, and they are also known for their charitable giving. We are very pleased to welcome them to Lakewood.”
Interior and exterior renovations will be underway in the coming months.
Burlington is a publicly traded company founded as a family business in 1972 by Monroe Milstein. Headquartered in Florence, New Jersey, as of 2017 the company had 631 locations. In 2006, with partners ABC’s Good Morning America and the national nonprofit Fashion Delivers, Burlington launched the annual Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive to collect coat donations for those in need. Local charities then distributed the donated items within their areas.
Since 2002, Burlington has partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphona Society’s Light the Night campaign and in 2012, partnered with WomenHeart to promote women’s heart health education.
