Lakewood Pan American Association Ambassadors selected

The Lakewood Pan American Association chose 11 Lakewood students as recipients of its annual scholarship program. Current high school seniors who live in Lakewood are eligible, regardless of where they go to school. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500 and are provided to help pay future college or trade school costs.

This year's winners are:

Elika Asis (Lakewood High School)
Judy Blancaflor (Lakewood High School)
Daniel Doria (Valley Christian High School)
Huntyr Ford (Lakewood High School)
Diego Garcia-Salas (Lakewood High School)
Casey Hahn (Renaissance High School for the Arts)
Edgar Herrera (Lakewood High School)
Jaeven Laron (Mayfair High School) – not pictured
Kelly McKittrick (Valley Christian High School)
Kayla Sarto (Lakewood High School)
Anne Serrano (Saint Joseph High School)

Students who have overcome adversity, made significant contributions to their schools and/or community and excelled academically are typical of the honorees chosen.

Scholarship recipients served as Pan American Ambassadors during Lakewood’s week-long celebration of Pan American friendship in early May. Since the scholarship program began in 1999, more than $135,000 in financial aid to students has been provided.
