Small Business Saturday gets a boost in Lakewood

Small businesses collectively are the economic heart of many cities. They often are owned by local residents, with local employees. But they face lots of challenges from expanded Internet shopping and other economic forces.

"There are some excellent small businesses in Lakewood,” says Mayor Ron Piazza. “You get service with a personal touch there and you support our local economy.”

To encourage more shoppers to support local small businesses, Piazza joined other mayors throughout the nation in declaring Saturday, November 26 as Small Business Saturday. Piazza visited several small businesses in Lakewood that day to show his support and to present each owner with a special “I Made A Difference” Lakewood lapel pin.
