Built in 1971, Lakewood’s Monte Verde Park is a beautiful, 4-acre park located along the West San Gabriel River. In 2001, the park was renovated and a new building was constructed, featuring the S. Mark Taper Foundation Vista Lodge, a 3,000 square-foot reinterpretation of a classic mountain lodge. A quarter mile long nature trail loops around the park providing a path through several ecosystems representing elements of native California landscape.
Over the years the city has provided a multitude of recreation activities at Monte Verde Park including overnight camping, summer vacation day camp programs and special recreation classes for all ages. The park is a popular rental spot for Lakewood family gatherings.
