Burns Community Center
The Burns Community Center is located on Clark Ave. just north of Candlewood Ave. The center, dedicated in 1976, was named after William J. Burns, one of Lakewood’s first city council members. New in 2008, the facility is host to the Nifty after Fifty fitness center. It is also known as the hub of social services for the city featuring senior nutrition, the Volunteers in Action program, the Mother’s at Work child care program, Meals on Wheels, DASH Transportation, emergency food assistance and other essential programs including information and referral.
