Can I put up a canopy type covering over my driveway to cover my car, boat, or RV?
Canopy structures-- generally a metal frame with a plastic or fabric covering -- are not permitted in driveways or sideyards. This is not a new regulation, but one which has always been part of the city's building code.
Canopy structures are permitted in rear yards, but they must have the necessary setback from house walls and fences. Also, they cannot block access to the garage.
