I want to reserve a place at a park for a picnic. How can I do that?

It's easy to request one of Lakewood's park facilities for a family picnic, birthday party, or community event.

I want to sign up for a recreation class. What do I need to do?

Seasonal recreation catalogs highlight Lakewood's entire recreation program.  Copies are available at parks, from the recreation office at city hall, or by calling 562-866-9771, extension 2408.  For online class registration, park maps, and descriptions of programs: Recreation and Community Services.

eCatalog for online class registration

Launched in early 2003 by Lakewood's Recreation and Community Services Department, the eCatalog is an extension of the city's computerized class registration system.  Its goal is to provide secure class sign-ups online.  But, the system is so versatile, users can even put themselves on a waiting list if a particular class is full.

Online registration for a Lakewood recreation class begins before the start of each individual course, so you can register at any time throughout the summer for upcoming programs.  The eCatalog also is searchable, making finding available courses easy.  You can even search for classes by park location to find out what classes take place at the facility closest to your home.

(Printable and searchable PDF versions of the current printed recreation catalog are also online via a link at the bottom of most recreation related Lakewood Online pages.)

Recreation staff members encourage online registration not only because it is easier, but also because it saves processing time and costs for the staff once needed to handle the volume of registrations at the beginning of each of the three recreation seasons.

Features like the waiting list option and ability to print out class rosters for instructors has helped get more participants into the courses they want.

Of course, registrants can still mail in and walk in class registrations, but use of eCatalog is encouraged.

You'll need a Family ID# and Participant PIN# to order online

If you want to sign up for classes online, you can get your individual or family account set up by Recreation and Community Services.  Having a personal or family account helps keep sign-ups more organized and more secure -- they even help get instructors their roll sheets.

If you do not have an account, you will need to get one prior to registering online using eCatalog by simply calling the recreation department at 562-866-9771, extension 2408. Follow the link below to find out more or request your account numbers online:

If you need to set up an account or aren't sure if you already have an account you may do so online.

Requesting a new account

You can request your eCatalog account using an online form.  It will give the recreation department all the necessary information to set up your family or individual account.  To sign up for classes online using eCatalog, you must have previously submitted this form, or contacted our staff by phone or in person.  Once you have an account set up, you will not have to complete this form again to register for classes online.

If you already have an account and know your Family ID# and Participant PIN# you may register for classes immediately using the on-line eCatalog with your MasterCard or VISA credit card.  If you don't remember your Family ID# and Participant PIN# prior to enrolling, contact the recreation department at 562-866-9771, extension 2408.
