How do I get a building permit?

The Building section of the Community Development Department issues building permits for both new and remodeled home and business construction.

Permit fees are based on the type of work and the size of the construction job.

Permits are issued at the walk-up service counter at city hall beginning at 7:00 a.m. weekdays.  Building inspectors are available between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Before applying for a permit, make a rough plan of your project. The rough plan should include the dimensions of your lot, the size of your house, and the location of your planned addition. City staff will review this plan before you submit formal plans for checking by the city's Building section.

For permit information, call 562-866-9771, extension 2350.
