Recreation Class Policies

Please read and be familiar with the Refund Policy, Transfer Policy, and Release of Liability Waiver listed below before proceeding to Step Two.

(Netscape users, please close this page once you understand the policies.)

Ordering Information & Material Fees

Please note that some classes may require an additional "material fee." This is payable to the instructor directly in class. (Material fees are most common with cooking classes, art classes and preschool programs). Orders over the web are charged a two-dollar handling fee per order regardless of the number of classes you select. If you would like to verify if a class you are interested in requires a materials fee, please call the Recreation and Community Services Department at (562) 866-9771, ext. 2408. Classes with a slightly higher nonresident fee are indicated by “NR” listed after the course number. If you are not a Lakewood resident, you must select the nonresident choice.

Ordering your classes on-line is convenient, however, you may also contact the Lakewood Recreation and Community Services Department during office hours for customer service assistance if needed (562) 866-9771 ext. 2408.

REFUND POLICY

Applications for refunds may be made in person, over the telephone, or by writing to us. Refund checks will be mailed within three weeks following the request, or credit will be applied to your credit card account.

PARTICIPANT CANCELLATION

A refund request must be made before the second class meeting or prior to classes that only meet once.  A $5 administrative fee will be charged to process these refund requests.  Refunds will not include materials fees.  A full refund will be made in the event an activity is cancelled by the City prior to the starting date.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED

If you are not completely satisfied with your class, tell us and we will arrange for you to repeat the class at no charge, transfer you to another class or receive a refund.  Please contact us as soon as you are aware that you are not satisfied with the class.

TRANSFER POLICY

Class transfers must be made before the second class meeting.  Any additional class payment must be received at this time.  Only one (1) transfer per class participant is permitted.

I agree to hold harmless the City of Lakewood, its agent and employees from all harm, accidents, personal injury or property damage which may arise out of my (or my family’s) participation in this/these activities.
