The city will continue to take brick orders as long as space permits. Brick installations are done one time per year, prior to Memorial Day. March 31 is the annual deadline to place a brick order and have it installed in time for the Memorial Day ceremony in May.
Over 2,000 individuals and groups have purchased commemorative bricks to honor military service members, their family and the Lakewood community at the new Veterans Memorial Plaza.
Bricks engraved with the name of an active duty military service member or veteran are still available for purchase and will be installed in designated sections of the new memorial's walkway as long as space is available.
As part of the 2015 renovation, bricks engraved with the name of community members and non-profit community groups were purchased and installed on a walkway leading to the memorial. This section is almost full and there are limited community bricks available for order at this time.
The commemorative bricks to honor military service members and veterans cost $100 each, which covers the bricks’ purchase, engraving and installation and assists with the long-term maintenance of the memorial. You can also purchase a replica copy of your brick to take home at a cost of $75.
Bricks can be purchased by Lakewood residents or anyone wishing to honor active duty service members or veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
